Preventing Sexual Harassment Training for 2013

As in the past, the college is providing you with the opportunity to complete the Preventing Sexual Harassment Training on-line. You may access this program one of two ways:

  

(1)   Go to the college’s homepage and click “Human Resources” (which is located on the left side of the screen near the very bottom of the listing) then click Preventing Sexual Harassment (this topic is located  under the heading Employee Training) or 

(2)   Go to Jeffnet and look under “Training Topics” and click Preventing Sexual Harassment.

You should choose the training program appropriate to your position, either faculty, supervisory, or non-supervisory. At the end of each program is a short quiz. All employees are required to complete this training and obtain a minimum score of 70% on the quiz. Your score is automatically sent to Human Resources. You may print your certificate and send it to Human Resources to be placed in your personnel file.

Please complete this training by Friday, March 29, 2013. If you have any questions, please call Ruby Russell at 856-8598.

Marjorie Tolbert

Former Jefferson State Employee Passes Away

Former Jefferson State employee Marjorie Joan Tolbert passed away on January 13, 2013.  Majorie was employed in the  Pioneer Bookstore from 1971 until her retirement in 1991.

Below is the obituary as printed in the Birmingham News.

TOLBERT, MARJORIE JOAN
Marjorie Joan (Cale) Tolbert age 86 of Hoover went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 13, 2013. She was a long time member of Riverchase United Methodist Church and the Seeker Sunday school class. She was a former member of Huffman United Methodist Church for 45 years. 

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a kind friend to all those who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, of 55 years; her parents, John Charles Cale and Daisy McCraith Cale; brother, John "Jack" Cale; her sister, Margaret C. Glenn. Left to cherish her memories: her daughter; Leigh Ann Agent (Mike); sons, Thomas J. Tolbert, Jr. and Mark Tolbert (Keiko); grandchildren, Jeff Hunsinger and Mick Tolbert.

Chancellor Visits Jefferson State

ACCS Leader Visits Jefferson State

The Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System, Dr. Mark A. Heinrich, recently visited Jefferson State's Shelby-Hoover Campus.

Dr. Heinrich met with Jefferson State President Judy Merritt, Vice President Dr. Joe Morris and numerous local legislators to discuss current educational issues.

Food Drive

Chilton-Clanton Location Holds Food Drive

Students attending Jefferson State's Chilton-Clanton location recently held a food drive at the college. Our students donated more than 500 canned and non-perishable food items to benefit the Chilton County Emergency Assistance Center.

Jefferson State faculty member Jennifer Dardy Addington completed her Doctorate in Nursing this year at Samford University. Jennifer also serves as the program chair for the Night/Weekend Nursing track.

James Spann Meets with SGA

ABC 33/40 Meteorologist James Spann met recently with Jefferson State's Student Government Association.

The Student Government Association is the voice of the student body at Jefferson State. SGA serves and represents the student body by working toward the betterment of the college, by providing leadership training, by taking part in community projects, and by other activities which promote a sense of loyalty and school spirit.
